Dr Santosh Raga - Consultant Cardiologist

Dr Raga after being qualified in India, undertook foundation and internal medicine training in various hospitals in England and Wales.  After successfully completing the Member of Royal college of Physicians UK examinations he moved to Scotland to undertake specialist training in Cardiology at Inverness and Aberdeen. Upon completion of training, he was appointed into his current job as a consultant Cardiologist in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

Dr Raga routinely sees patients with a wide range of known cardiac problems, including; angina, heart failure, valvular heart disease and arrhythmias; and for investigation of symptoms including: chest pain, breathlessness, palpitations and collapse. He has clinical interest in all aspects of general cardiology with additional sub-speciality interest in heart failure and Cardiac Implantable Devices.

As well as being part of the busy clinical department at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, he is also actively involved in training of both medical students and trainee doctors in the department.

Ms Sangeeta Maini - ENT Consultant

Ms Sangeeta Maini has specialist experience in Ear, Nose & Throat surgery with particular clinical interest in ear problems including hearing and balance disorders, eustachian tube problems (after flights or diving), nose and sinus disorders, children’s ENT disorders, voice problems and facial pain management. Over the last 20 years she has been specialising in this field mainly in UK but has also gained considerable experience in Australia. Research interests are in hearing preservation surgery, allergic rhinitis (hay fever), nasal surgery and Tinnitus. Ms Maini has published extensively in these areas and won several prizes at major surgical meetings. She has presented her papers nationally and internationally and has several international publications. She has also taught medical students and post-graduate students in the UK, Australia and India Ms Sangeeta Maini offers up-to-date and comprehensive range of treatments for conditions affecting the ear, nose and throat in both Adults and Children.

Mr Bhaskar Ram - Consultant Otolaryngologist

Mr Bhaskar Ram graduated from the University of Madras (India). He has been a practising consultant since 2002. Mr Ram is a Consultant Otolaryngologist with special interest in rhinoplasty, advanced endoscopic sinus surgery, otology surgery, dizziness management, facial pain management, chronic cough management and immunotherapy.  He is a Course Director at the University Hospital, Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

Mr Clive Brewis - ENT Consultant

Mr Brewis is a graduate of the University of Cambridge and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He undertook his ENT training in hospitals including the Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London and Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge. He was appointed as an ENT consultant at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary in 2007 and works at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, Royal Aberdeen Childrens Hospital, Jubilee Hospital in Huntly and Gilbert Bain Hospital in Shetland. He has a special interest in ear conditions (otology) and in children’s conditions (paediatrics). In the ear he has a special interest in symptoms including deafness (hearing loss), noises in the ears (tinnitus), dizziness and balance (vertigo), pain in the ears (otalgia), discharge from the ears (otorrhoea); conditions including otitis externa, otitis media, perforated ear drum, benign positional vertigo, Ménière’s disease, vestibular migraine, labyrinthitis, vestibular neuritis, Eustachian tube dysfunction and patulous Eustachian tube; and in procedures including myringoplasty, ossiculoplasty, tympanoplasty, meatoplasty, bone anchored hearing aid, grommets, intratympanic dexamethasone/gentamicin, Epley’s manoevre and microsuction. In children he has a special interest in recurrent tonsillitis / sore throats, snoring / sleep apnoea and glue ear. He is Clinical Lead of the ENT Department at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

Mr Vamsidhar Vallamkondu - ENT Consultant

Mr Vamsidhar Vallamkondu has over 10 years of experience in ENT. He has completed his post graduate training in ENT in India for which he was awarded MS in Otolaryngology and then moved to UK for higher surgical training. He has been awarded the Gold Medal for the best performance in the European Board Examination Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery (EBEORL-HNS).He has been on the GMC Specialist Register in Otolaryngology since January 2020 and practicing as Consultant in ENT at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary since then. Mr Vallamkondu is trained in advanced endoscopic sinus surgery, endoscopic DCR surgery, and Skull base surgery, His practice involves general ENT, with sub specialist interests in Rhinology and Head & Neck and in Paediatrics. He has over 20 publications and numerous international and national presentations under his name. He has written and co-authored a few book chapters in ENT. He is actively involved in teaching and training. He is a recognised trainer by the GMC.

Ms Lynn Stevenson - Consultant Colorectal And General Surgeon

Ms Lynn Stevenson is a Consultant Colorectal and General surgeon at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary consulting privately at TAC Healthcare Group. Within colorectal surgery, Ms Stevenson specialises in the treatment of benign colorectal conditions including haemorrhoids, anal fistula, anal fissure, functional disorders, faecal incontinence and diverticular disease. Ms Stevenson also specialises in colorectal cancer diagnosis and management, offering patients rapid access to clinical consultation and appropriate and timely investigations. Ms Stevenson graduated in medicine from the University of Aberdeen in 2001. Following this she successfully completed a Master in Medical Law degree in 2009 from the University of Glasgow and then became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2010. Ms Stevenson was selected by Ethicon to undertake a prestigious fellowship in laparoscopic (key-hole) colorectal surgery in 2011. Her current professional memberships include the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland (ACPGBI) and she has been a Regional Surgical Advisor for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

Mr George Ramsay - Consultant Colorectal Surgeon

Mr George Ramsay is an Honorary Consultant Colorectal Surgeon and Senior Lecturer at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and the University of Aberdeen. He has an interest in the presentation, diagnosis and management of colorectal conditions and has an interest in both benign and malignant disease. He also has an academic role in the University and is interested in how colorectal conditions are influenced by the bacteria in the bowel as well as the treatment options available for colorectal surgery. Mr Ramsay studied medicine in the University of Edinburgh and qualified in 2007. He undertook an intercalated degree in Medical Microbiology in 2004. After undertaking his foundation year training in the South East of Scotland, he then undertook his surgical training in the North and North East of Scotland. During this time he was a Welcome Trust Clinical Fellow in Dundee between 2012-2015 and performed research on the lymphocytes in the bowel. This led to him being awarded a PhD. He also has an active teaching interest and is a Member of the Faculty of Surgical Trainers of the College of Edinburgh. He was awarded his Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2019 and became a Consultant in 2020.

Mr Duncan Scrimegour - Consultant Colorectal Surgeon

Mr Duncan Scrimgeour is a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary who specialises in the treatment of benign and malignant colorectal conditions. He has a background of basic science research and has previously investigated the prognostic significance of specific genes involved in the development of colorectal cancer. Mr Scrimgeour has a Bachelor of Science degree in Anatomy and Physiology from the University of Dundee and was awarded a Masters of Science degree in Oncology from the University of Nottingham for his research on ‘High Throughput Molecular Profiling of Colorectal Cancer’. He studied medicine at the University of Aberdeen and graduated with Commendation in 2010. More recently, Mr Scrimgeour was appointed as the first ever Intercollegiate Research Fellow for the four Surgical Royal Colleges of Great Britain and Ireland. The research conducted during this role lead to Mr Scrimgeour being awarded a PhD in Medical Education from the University of Aberdeen in 2019. His work in Medical Education was also formally recognised when he was enrolled as a Member of the Faculty of Surgical Trainers of the Royal College of Edinburgh. He completed higher surgical training in the North East of Scotland and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2020. Mr Scrimgeour has recently returned from Newcastle following completion of the prestigious North of England Laparoscopic Colorectal fellowship.

Mr Craig Mackay - Consultant Colorectal Surgeon

Mr Craig Mackay is a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and honorary Lecturer at University of Aberdeen. Mr Mackay specialises in the diagnosis, management and surgery for colorectal cancer. He also specialises in benign colorectal disease including Inflammatory bowel disease, diverticular disease, colorectal polyps, haemorrhoids, anal fissures and fistula’s. He is a JAG accredited specialist in colonoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy and upper gastrointestinal endoscopy. Mr Mackay has a BSc (Hons) degree from the University of Glasgow then Graduated with Commendation in Medicine at the University of Aberdeen in 2007. He undertook his surgical training in North East Scotland. During this he was a Wellcome Trust Clinical Fellow at the University of Dundee from 2012-2015. During this time he was awarded a PhD for a Cancer Research UK funded project examining cell signalling pathways involved in the development of colorectal cancer. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2019. Mr Mackay continues a research interest in his current consultant role as well as interests in the teaching and training of medical students and surgical trainees.

Jenni is a Chartered Physiotherapist with 14 years’ experience of Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy and Sports Medicine. Having worked for the NHS with both adults and children Jenni specialised in musculoskeletal injuries and sports medicine. After completing a masters qualification in Sports and Exercise Medicine at The University of Glasgow in 2015 Jenni went on to work with several professional clubs, including Aberdeen Football Club. Jenni has recently completed an extended scope qualification with a Diploma in Injection Therapy with the Society of Orthopaedic Medicine. This allows her to offer the latest in medical technology with joint and soft tissue injections in combination with our sports medicine team.

Alasdair Wilson has been a Consultant Vascular Surgeon at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary since August 2014. After graduating from Aberdeen University in 2000, he did his basic surgical training and specialist vascular surgical training in Aberdeen. He undertook a specialist vascular and endovascular fellowship at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, Australia and following this took up post as a consultant vascular surgeon at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. He has a keen interest in the minimally invasive treatment of varicose veins (endovenous laser therapy, radiofrequency ablation (VenefitTM), ultrasound guided foam sclerotherapy and microsclerotherapy).

Mr Stuart Suttie - Consultant Vascular Surgeon

Stuart Suttie is a Consultant Vascular Surgeon at Ninewells Hospital and Medical School. Graduating from Aberdeen University, he did his basic surgical training in Aberdeen after which he undertook a two year period of research towards his Doctorate of Medicine in the Department of Surgery at Aberdeen University. Mr Suttie then went on to complete his specialist vascular surgical training in Dundee before undertaking a specialist vascular and endovascular fellowship at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, Australia. Following this Mr Suttie took up post as a consultant vascular surgeon at Ninewells Hospital, Dundee.
